Radiation Exposure and Health in Fukushima

福島県における放射線被ばくと健康

2011年3月11日の東日本大震災以来、当研究室の学生と教官はボランティア、
研究員として福島県南相馬市に深く関与している。学生は健康診断をサポートし、
南相馬市の内部被ばく計測の設置と評価に関わった。トヨタ財団からの資金と地元の病院との協働を通じて、
当研究室は市の人々の健康ニーズ調査、放射線被ばくと被災地住民の健康のモニタリングを行う
2年間の研究プロジェクトを開始した。

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11th March, 2011,
students and staff have been deeply involved as volunteers and researchers
in the town of Minamisoma, in Fukushima Prefecture.
Students assisted with initial health assessments and were involved in the establishment
and evaluation of the town’s ongoing internal radiation exposure assessments.
With funding from the Toyota Foundation and in collaboration with local hospitals,
the department of Global Health Policy has commenced a two year research project to establish the health needs
of the population and to provide ongoing monitoring of radiation exposure and the health
of residents of the affected areas.
