Non-communicable Diseases

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a growing global health problem. In developed nations the prevalence of NCDs like diabetes, hypertension and heart disease and their associated risk factors is increasing. Developing nations are experiencing the epidemiological transition, in which developing health systems have to manage the double burden of infectious disease and growing prevalence of NCDs. The fight against NCDs is intimately connected with the challenges of cost containment and sustainability which health-financing systems are facing in developed and developing nations alike. The department of Global Health Policy is committed to research and policy analysis to help find innovative and practical solutions to the challenges of this epidemic.
