Professor Shakoor Hajat Gives Lecture on Climate and Health Research in the UK

Professor Shakoor Hajat of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) was invited to deliver a lecture entitled “Current Climate and Health Research in the UK” as part of the Lecture Series in Global Health Policy, hosted by the Department of Global Health Policy, The University of Tokyo, on 27 January 2026.

Professor Hajat currently serves as Director of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) on Climate Change and Health Security. His research focuses on climate change, planetary health, and environmental health, with particular emphasis on the health impacts of heat exposure and other climate-related risks. During the lecture, he presented recent advances in climate and health research in the UK, with a particular focus on heat-related health risks and their policy implications. An informal lunch discussion followed the seminar, offering an opportunity for further academic exchange.
